McKenzie shares Cicero’s belief in the power of liberty, accountability, and innovation to form a “more perfect union.” Whether that be through our laboratories of democracy, free-market competition, or entrepreneurial innovators, Americans are uniquely equipped to solve the problems of our day. And she believes no greater crisis exists than that of our current healthcare scheme. She joined the Cicero Institute to research and develop solutions to make it better.

When doing humanitarian work in rural Argentina, she frequently visited hospitals and was shocked at the conditions in what had once been an economic superpower. But their pivot from free-market principles made it difficult for people to access resources like education and healthcare. Her interest in politics changed after she experienced how political principles can have life-or-death consequences after a friend who served with her became very ill and died. This was solidified after her own experience with maternal healthcare nearly led to tragic consequences.

Now, McKenzie works to find solutions to our present crisis because it is her hope that promoting true principles in healthcare will preserve lives. She is a published author and researcher who achieved her Masters in Public Policy while working and raising two children.

She lives in Oxford, Mississippi with her husband Ted, two daughters, and an aussie/golden mix.
